Heeylo, audience! Or... Well, everyone reading my blog! It's the Legendary Chayed, once again here to spill out random mumbo jumbo that you may, or may not understand in the slightest, or agree with. Todays topic is: Video games. Now, if you know me well, you know I love video games. Though, there are many things I love a lot more than video games... To be completely honest, video games are probably at the bottom of my interest list. Now, that doesn't mean I don't find them completely thrilling, but that's just want the developer's curse does to you. The developer's curse is basically not enjoying something because they didn't make it as great as what you think you would have. I'll be honest, I don't really like some of the games that support innovation... For instance: Call of Duty. All that Call of Duty really does is improve the graphics of the game, the realism of the game, and add in a couple guns with every game... I prefer the old school, and I'll tell you why: It's because of creativity. I mean, common people! So what, you have to sit at a computer for hours on end typing away code? Do you really think that's making you less creative? Well, I'm sorry to say, but every GOOD programmer and game designer is creative. Now, you may ask: Why would such intelligent jobs need creativity? Because that's reality! What keeps our minds active, and allows us to express ourselves and have fun? Creativity! I don't frown upon innovation at all, and honestly, that's the main reason why I've always wanted to be a programmer and game designer. Innovation, to me, is one of the greatest things in the world. Though, without creativity, how could you ever have innovation in the first place? Innovation is not about going by everyone else's standards. Innovation is about being creative, thinking of your own stuff and trying to MAKE something new.
Okay, so I realize that a lot of people have issues being creative, and I have no doubt that that is a complicated and somewhat risky thing to do. You might think, "Oh, what if people don't like my ideas?", or "What if my ideas end up being impossible to make?". Okay, first I would like to say that nothing is impossible, and second, don't worry about what other people think. SURELY there is at least ONE person out there in this world that agrees with or understands you in some way! Do you know why I ever call anyone boring? Because they don't ever live by their own standards or beliefs. Well, those people that I actually call boring. I don't really do that very often, but it's true. Now, please don't take this whole statement as if I'm just some immature teenager that wants to go out and party thinking it's fun. I won't lie, I've done quite silly stuff before, that I don't really enjoy looking back on, so I'm not that perfect little angel child. I won't deny it, never will. It's not because I would ever use it as bragging rights, I'm actually quite ashamed of myself in a more professional sense. If you really think about what I said about being creative, you could probably figure the fact that peer pressure basically coincides with the opposite of what I believe makes something fun. If you go out and party and do a bunch of crazy stuff because you're young and immature, then that (to me) is the prime example of being boring. To me, creativity is fun, and even if someone isn't that creative, the interest in creativity makes someone fun too, in my opinion. Some might say that a lot of the things I watch or listen to are very "trippy". I just think they're purely amazing. I don't find offensive to find something to be "trippy", though. Why would I? You know, they smoke weed in The Lord of the Rings? I'll tell you this, plain and simple, if someone is more open minded and creative with a supplement then let it be! Though, my reason for not doing drugs is because it's bad for you and illegal. Weed, on the other hand, is something I would never tell someone is necessarily wrong to smoke. I would obviously feel otherwise if at any point in the Bible God had ever said, "It is a sin to smoke weed." Though, I've never actually heard weed be mentioned before in any context of the Bible. I only don't agree with it when a person breaks the law to smoke weed, and also if someone smokes it just to be cool. Weed is great in moderation, to be creative. To me, that's all it's good for. Anyways, I'm getting off topic.
Creativity is such a great thing, and I really enjoy a lot of the ideas I've seen people come up with and actually make a reality. I find it truly impressive that any living person could think of something as unusual as a Mexican/Italian plumber that saves a princess from a giant evil turtle that breathes fire by using power ups that give him insane powers, like a star that turns him completely invincible; Or a hedgehog that can walk on two legs, speak English, and run at the speed of light, that battles a big, bald man that uses robots for minions to take over the world, and gets unimaginable power from emeralds. I'm sure you can all guess what I'm talking about... That's right, Mario and Sonic. :)
Mario and Sonic have been some of the greatest games ever made ever since... Well, since they were made. They will always be classics, but also, always be the best. Mario and Sonic will never be forgot, because for their time, they were the most innovative ideas that any game designer had ever gotten... Heck, they're still what a lot of innovative and creative thinkers use as inspiration for a lot of their games.
